Four point contact ball bearings are essentially radial single row angular contact ball bearings with raceways specially crafted to handle axial loads from both directions. They can support a specific radial load (load ratio) when subjected to a given axial load. Notably, these bearings are of a separable design, meaning the outer ring with the ball and cage assembly can be independently mounted from the two inner ring halves.

These bearings include grooved shoulders on both halves of the inner ring, which, when used alongside cylindrical roller bearings, enhance oil flow. The recessed parts also facilitate disassembly, making maintenance and replacement tasks more straightforward.
